History of the
UMKC Clinical Medicine Librarian Program
Bibliographic instruction
The CMLs taught medical students to search Index Medicus, and other medical
references.

Today such instruction continues, but students are also taught to search
MEDLINE and other
databases, and to use information resources on the Internet. CMLs continue to take information requests
and to anticipate information needs while on rounds (or in the hallways or parking lot or ...),
but also receive requests for information (and deliver answers) by phone, FAX, and email.
