Kansas City

Kansas City is just like the food it’s famous for: spicy, sizzling, casual and friendly. We have everything you expect to find in a metropolitan city – great places to eat and shop, world-class hotels, top-notch museums and pro sports. For more, go to www.visitkc.com.

We're the Heart of America

Kansas City is the most centrally located U.S. city. It is a bi-state community of 1.6 million residents. The central city is Kansas City, Missouri, but the metro area encompasses seven counties of Missouri and four counties of Kansas.  The international airport and Amtrak station allows for easy travel.

The good life costs less

Although enjoying an exceptionally high standard of living, Greater Kansas City is very affordable. The area consistently ranks below the national average in costs of housing, transportation, food and utilities.

Strong mix of commerce and industry

With a diverse and growing economy, Greater Kansas City is a center for financial services, communications, health care, law, education and government, which is the area's largest employer. Agribusiness is also strong, particularly in management and research.

Enjoy classics to jazz, shopping and sports

Arts and entertainment run the gamut from the highly acclaimed Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Lyric Opera and Missouri Repertory Theatre to the city's six professional sports teams: Chiefs football, Royals baseball, Outlaws hockey, Wizards outdoor soccer and Explorers tennis.  Plans for a new downtown arena will likely bring in an NBA and/or NHL team as well as provide a venue for national sporting events such as the Final Four.
College sporting events are plentiful as well with the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and University of Missouri within close driving distance. There are also numerous colleges and universities in Kansas City.

Kansas City has more professional theaters than any U.S. city its size. Outdoor rock concerts, 18th & Vine jazz district, Kansas City Zoo and the Harry S. Truman Library are other popular choices. There's also NASCAR, dog and horse racing and riverboat gaming.

The Country Club Plaza shopping district, dubbed the "Rodeo Drive of the Midwest," and Kansas City's world- famous steaks and barbecue draw visitors from a four-state region.

Close to Children's Mercy, the Crown Center complex offers theatres, restaurants, ice skating, shopping and free summer outdoor concerts and events.
