Children's Mercy Hospital

Children's Mercy Hospital provides the highest level of pediatric care and services in the region. More than 40 pediatric subspecialties and 500 pediatric physicians provide clinical services, research and teaching efforts in various aspects of pediatrics. Yearly, this facility admits more than 13,400 children and performs more than 160,000 imaging studies. Under the supervision of 10 faculty members, residents gain experience in general pediatric radiology and subspecialties including neuroradiology, interventional and nuclear medicine. The 264-bed hospital operates the only level I pediatric trauma center in the region and has one of the busiest neonatal/pediatric transport programs in the United States. It is nationally recognized for cardiac surgery, asthma/allergy/immunology, minimally invasive surgery, clinical pharmacology, nephrology and neonatology.

CMH has been ranked as one of the 10 best children's hospitals in America by Child Magazine, and has been awarded the rare Magnet designation for high quality patient care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2005-08.

Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City

Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City is a 629-bed tertiary care referral center serving a six-state region. Residents are assigned to various core rotations in the main radiology department and the out patient imaging center. In addition, this site is where residents gain exposure to mammography and advanced interventional radiology procedures including neurointerventional. Saint Lukes is known for the Mid America Heart Institute, Women’s Resource Center, and Mid America Brain and Stroke Institute. They also offer a wide array of specialized services in neuroscience, nephrology, dialysis, high-risk maternal and infant care, organ transplantation, a Level I trauma center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, regional arthritis center, comprehensive cancer program and a wealth of other programs requiring imaging and radiological consultation. Saint Luke's admits approximately 20,000 patients annually and performs more than 104,000 imaging studies per year. Saint Luke's has 466 physicians on staff and delivers more than 4,600 babies each year. The hospital received the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for 2003, accepting the award directly from President Bush. Continued accolades include the rare Magnet Designation for High Quality of Patient Care in 2004 awarded by The American Nurse’s Credentialing Center and The Missouri Quality award in 2007 recognizing excellence in quality leadership.

Truman Medical Center Hospital Hill

Truman Medical Center Hospital Hill provides a broad array of acute and outpatient services to a diverse patient population. The medical center is known for excellence in emergency and level I trauma services, and also is recognized for programs in asthma; diabetes; HIV/AIDS services; obstetrics and high risk obstetrics; ophthalmology, and women's health. At this site residents gain hands on experience in general radiology, including musculoskeletal MRI, obstetrical imaging and exposure to common interventional procedures. On an annual basis, the 308-bed medical center admits more than 11,500 patients, provides more than 212,000 outpatient visits and performs approximately 102,000 radiology examinations. TMC has 329 physicians on staff, and is physically connected to Children’s Mercy Hospital and the UMKC School of Medicine, which includes a complete Health Science Library, research facilities and conference sites.

Kansas City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The Kansas City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a 157 bed facility where radiology residents focus on the geriatric population. It is a major Midwest medical center for basic and clinical research in all fields of study. Radiology is a dynamic, completely digital (PACS & Voice Recognition) deparment performing more than 35,000 exams per year utilizing all imaging modalities ranging from plain radiographs to MRI and interventional procedures. The mission of the KC VAMC is to provide high quality, comprehensive primary and tertiary healthcare to veterans in our service area; and to provide education and training to healthcare professionals and to perform research that benefits veterans.
