Graduate Medical Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine provides didactic teaching, research, hands-on clinical opportunities, and professional and peer interactions necessary to produce competently skilled and experienced physicians.
The School of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals offer a broad spectrum of general and subspecialty programs. Depending upon the program selected, residents are afforded an opportunity to gain health care knowledge and skills that may span from prenatal to geriatric patient populations.
Located in an urban setting, a wide-variety of educational opportunities may be gained at one or more of the locally affiliated and American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited medical sites i.e., Children’s Mercy Hospital, Saint Luke’s Hospital, Truman Medical Center, Truman Medical Center-Lakewood, Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Western Missouri Mental Health Center. Each affiliated hospital has a unique mission within the community thereby affording residents and fellows exposure to diverse patient cultures and clinical settings. Depending upon the selected program, residents may rotate through one or more of the affiliated medical centers.
