Welcome to the UMKC Department of Emergency Medicine.

Our departmental vision is to be “the best place to study, teach, learn, deliver, and receive emergency medical care,” and toward that end, we have committed ourselves to continuous quality improvement in all that we do. We are looking for residents who will commit themselves to learning their craft, and who want to leave their mark on this training program. If you train here, your ideas and opinions about how to improve the program will be actively sought. We pride ourselves on our commitment to innovation in curricular design, implementation, and especially in the provision of evaluation and feedback.

We opened a brand-new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department in 2005, and are embarking on an exciting new curriculum incorporating medical simulation. There has never been a better time to learn emergency medicine at UMKC.

Our Values:

1. Patient care comes first
2. Treat everyone as we want to be treated
3. Look for a better way to do everything
4. Learn something new everyday
5. Have fun, enjoy the work
