Meeting Attendance: Beginning in year 2, residents are selected
on a rotating basis to attend regional or national meetings. Each resident
attends at least one American College of Surgeons national meeting during
their residency.
Night Call: Averages every fifth night.
Housing: Reasonable cost housing is close
to the three hospitals. Most residents rent or buy apartments, condominiums,
or houses within 10-25 minutes.
Transportation: A car is essential for
residents to meet their transportation needs. Free parking is provided
at Truman Medical Center, Saint Luke's Hospital and Children's Mercy
Hospital.
Meals: Residents receive $100.00/month
for meals while at Saint Luke's.
Lab coat allowance: Residents receive a
$50 lab coat allowance their first year, then $25 per year after that.
Leave of Absence Policy complies with Federal "Family Medical Leave
Act".
Discounted membership to UMKC/SLH Health Club.
